Blue Jays need to decide on keeping either Jonatan Clase or Davis Schneider
As Varsho slowly returns to play, the Blue Jays will now have to decide on who thy will send down which it will likely be between Schneider and Clase since Addison Barger has been one of their best players since coming back to the majors.
Clase has been a solid option since being brought up for the Blue Jays over a month ago but do to his age and need to continue to develop he is definitely an option for being demoted.
Clase would be the most obvious player to demote considering his age, and he's a player that needs to still develop his skills.
This isn't to say he hasn't been a nice addition to the team, as in the short time he's spent in the majors this season he's shown his potential. His numbers with runners in scoring position and his speed have certainly benefited the club. -
When it comes to Clase, it is his defensive game that needs the most improving when it comes to his glove but the one thing he has going for him in the field in his speed that makes up for his lack of skills with his glove.
His glove work is what needs to improve on his defense side, although his speed makes up for his reads to get to the ball. Clase is starting to project more as a very capable defender in right or left field -
On the other hand there is Schneider who was recently brought back up to the majors from Triple-A and has been much better at the plate especially over his last few games but could still get sent back down.
Schneider in his last 7 games has a .313 batting average and .476 on base percentage but that is only in 16 at bats but in his last 15 games it has been a little more rough as he has a .208 batting average with 1 homerun and 2 RBIs.
It really comes down Clase or Schneider and how the two players play in this final stretch before Varsho returns.
