Blue Jays and Ross Atkins looking to go after San Diego Padres all-star
The Toronto Blue Jays might end up losing a lot of talent on the mound at the end of the season, but if they can lock ace pitcher Dylan Cease it might make up for it.
The San Diego Padres pitcher will enter the market with teammate Michael King and they will not be able to keep both.
Toronto Blue Jays heavily rumored to sign Dylan Cease.
Christopher Damond of Yahoo Sports broke the news that per insider Mitch Bannon of the Athletic, Dylan Cease will be heavily targeted by the Blue Jays.
"But in the meantime, offseason rumors are swirling. And Mitch Bannon of The Athletic added to that discussion in his recent mailbag-linking Cease to the Toronto Blue Jays. With several starters entering free agency in Toronto, could the Padres' star be a good fit?"-Damond
The Toronto Blue Jays are in danger of losing Shane Bieber, Max Scherzer and Chris Bassit as they all become free agents this year. They are going to need a big signing to make up for the loss and Dylan Cease fits the bill.
"A reunion with Bieber would fill a hole, but other top options for the Jays include San Diego Padres righties Dylan Cease and Michael King, along with Texas Rangers righties Tyler Mahle and Merrill Kelly. Though Cease struggled this year, he has Cy Young upside. His inning-hauling durability fits the Jays' big-ticket pitching signing trend, too.»-Damond
Dylan Cease is currently valued at a six year deal worth $156million per Sportrac for his upcoming deal this off-season.
If the Blue Jays managed to keep Bieber and sign Cease they are going to have one of the best rotations in baseball.
