Ernie Clement is heading back to the World Series, just not with a bat in his hands. The Blue Jays infielder will work as an MLB correspondent.

The league announced Thursday that Clement will cover Games 3 and 4 at Tropicana Field. He'll provide player-first coverage and create content across MLB's social channels.

The Brewers and Rays open the series Friday at 8 p.m. ET in Milwaukee. Games 3 and 4 then shift to Tampa Bay.

Clement knows the stage. He set a postseason record with 30 hits during Toronto's 2025 run, which ended with a Game 7 loss to the Dodgers.

Here's the twist. One of his fellow correspondents is Miguel Rojas, the recently retired Dodgers infielder who tied that Game 7 with a ninth-inning homer.

Red Sox starter Payton Tolle rounds out the group. That's a fascinating mix of perspectives for one World Series.

Rojas also made the play that cut down Isiah Kiner-Falefa at home in the ninth. Clement was right there for all of it, driving a ball into the gap on the next pitch that Andy Pages caught.

Will they talk about it? You'd hope so.

MLB nailed this booking. Pairing the record-setting hitter with the man who broke Toronto's heart is exactly the kind of storyline the league should lean into.

It's like seating two old rivals at the same wedding table. Awkward for a minute, then it becomes the best conversation in the room.

The assignment comes during an uncertain winter for Clement. Ross Atkins has said he'll have to earn the second base job in 2027.

The Jays are weighing options like Brandon Lowe and Gleyber Torres. He could end up back in a super-utility role.

For a few days, though, none of that matters. Clement gets to enjoy October from a different angle and give fans a player's view of baseball's biggest stage.

Fans can catch Game 1 on Sportsnet and Sportsnet+. By Game 3, they'll hear from a familiar face who knows exactly how close this trophy can feel.
