Blue Jays fans still want Kevin Gausman back in Toronto. A Disney post from his wife, Taylor, on Tuesday turned into a full-blown reunion campaign in the comments.

"disney with a surprise from some of our besties!!!" she wrote on Instagram. The post drew more than 3,000 likes.

The comments did the rest. "Come back to Toronto gausy," one fan wrote, while another added, "Come back to Toronto, we miss you guys!!!"

One commenter called them "two of my favorite Blue Jay forever families." Another simply wrote, "Toronto misses BOTH families."

It's been a little over two months since Toronto sent Gausman to the Cubs on Aug. 2 for Brett Bateman and Ty Southisene. The fan base clearly hasn't moved on.

The career resume explains the affection. The fourth overall pick in 2012, he's gone 121-125 with a 3.87 ERA in 393 starts over 14 seasons.

Toronto's Gausman nostalgia runs into the numbers

But should the Jays actually listen to the comment section? The recent numbers say no.

He posted a 4.83 ERA for Chicago after the trade. The Cubs were then eliminated in the NL Wild Card Series with him on the mound in the deciding game.

MLB.com's Keegan Matheson has also said he's "not as optimistic as the aggregated headlines are" about a reunion.

Meanwhile, Bateman became Toronto's leadoff man and one of the best returns of the deadline.

The love is real, and it should stay a memory. Bringing back a 35-year-old whose numbers slid after the trade would be a reunion built on feelings instead of results.

Fan nostalgia is like rewatching an old favourite movie. It's perfect for one evening, but you wouldn't plan your whole weekend around it.

The two-time All-Star gave Toronto plenty of big nights. His years on the Rogers Centre mound earned every heart emoji in those comments.

The family looks happy wherever they are. If Ross Atkins does make that call this winter, it'll say more about Toronto's pitching shortage than about the past.
