The Blue Jays released two young outfielders before Friday's series opener against the Royals.
Toronto's game against Kansas City starts at 6:10 p.m. Mountain, 8:10 p.m. Eastern.
Before that first pitch, the team parted ways with Daniel Dominguez and Nicolas Vergara.

Both are 18-year-old outfielders who signed with Toronto on the same day, Jan. 18, 2025.
Vergara, listed at 6-foot, 172 pounds, played 30 games before a string of injuries wiped out his entire 2026 season.
In those 30 games, he hit .151 with 13 hits, 11 RBIs, five doubles, and one stolen base.
Why contact issues sealed both players' fates
Dominguez, at 5-foot-11 and 163 pounds, had a stranger path. He stayed healthy but played just two games in 2026.
That's not surprising given his .161 average across 52 games in 2025, paired with 43 strikeouts in that stretch.
Releases like these happen constantly in the lower levels of a farm system, especially for players who never found consistent contact.
It's technically possible for a released player to rejoin an organization down the line, but that outcome looks unlikely for either of these two given their track record before this season.
More realistically, both will look for a fresh opportunity elsewhere, whether that's another farm system or a different developmental path entirely.
Toronto has made contact skills a clear organizational priority, evident in the players it's promoted and kept around this season.
For Dominguez and Vergara, that emphasis on contact hitting was exactly the trait missing from their games, and it ultimately cost them their spot in the system.
