A recent article confirms that the Toronto Blue Jays are heavily eyeing star pitcher Jhoan Duran from the Minnesota Twins at this year's trade deadline.

As the Blue Jays remain near the top of the AL East and gear up for a strong October run, the trade picture between buyer and seller is beginning to come into focus.

Blue Jays reportedly eyeing star pitcher from the Twins.

Cody Christie from Twins Daily writes that this season carries a familiar tone, but injuries have exposed their depth across the board. What they're missing now isn't temporary fixes, it's top-tier talent. In particular, a true difference-maker for the back end of the bullpen.
"Duran, still just 27, remains one of the most electric arms in baseball. He boasts a triple-digit fastball, a wicked splinker, and elite strikeout rates (26.3 K% in 2025). Through the 2025 season's first half, he's posted a 1.52 ERA and 1.09 WHIP, while converting 14 save opportunities." -Christie

Minnesota's in a tricky position. The Twins remain on the edge of the playoff race, but the front office appears willing to explore creative trades, as long as there's long-term value coming back. Moving Duran would be a bold swing, both symbolically and strategically, but it's not off the table.
"Crucially, Duran is under team control through the 2027 season. The Blue Jays, like many teams, have shown a preference for adding players with team control. That extended runway of affordability makes him more than a rental. It makes him a long-term bullpen anchor, which significantly ups his trade value." -Christie

If the Blue Jays hope to acquire Duran, they'll need to present a substantial offer, and they have the assets to do it. Per MLB Pipeline, Toronto's top five prospects boast an enticing mix of high ceilings and near-MLB readiness.
"If the Blue Jays want to land Duran, they'll need to come to the table with a significant offer, and they have the pieces to make it happen. According to MLB Pipeline, Toronto's top five prospects offer a compelling blend of upside and proximity to the majors." -Christie

The question now is whether the Blue Jays are willing to go all-in. If they are, Duran could be bound for Toronto, and the Twins might walk away with a return that reshapes their future.
