Bowden Francis will be getting his first career start today for the Toronto Blue Jays. This game will come against the Houston Astros, who have yet to win a single game to start the season.

Today's match against the Astros will be the first of a three-game series that goes until Wednesday. The games are being played in Houston as the Blue Jays look to propel themselves into a winning record. Francis is being tasked with getting the ball rolling, and it seems like he is exercising a phenomenal mentality.

In a piece from reporter Julia Kreuz, it was revealed that Francis is someone who likes to give his mind a break from the internet. Overall, he likes to see himself as someone who conjures the spirit of early humans. It's ultimately what helps him get prepared for big games and moments.

"As I matured, I realized how our minds can grab onto negative things. I kind of dove into our brain and tried to get back to the old us, the old human -- without the electronics, without all the negative stuff going on. So, I just try to get back to the source."

His teammates love him, and they trust him to deliver when it counts. When it was revealed that he made the roster after Spring Training, it was a joyous occasion. As it turns out, it wasn't just teammates who were happy. It was the fans who were over the moon about it.

When it comes to his approach to pitching, Francis has a unique mindset. In fact, he sees it as some sort of meditation ritual. He focuses in on his breathing, and he always makes sure to be aware of his surroundings. He can block out the negative energy, and put everything into his throws.

"When I'm pitching, it's like a meditation. Anything, really -- even throwing program, it's a meditation. I'm not talking a lot, I'm not thinking about what I'm eating later. I'm worrying about my breath and what's going on [in front of me]."

If you want to watch Francis play his first game of the season, you will be able to do so as of 8:10 PM Eastern Standard Time. The game will be broadcast on Sportsnet in Canada. You can also stay tuned to Blue Jays Insider for the latest news and updates from around the baseball world.
