Cleveland Guardians pitcher Shane Bieber could end up a solid option for the Toronto Blue Jays

The Toronto Blue Jays are looking to improve their starting pitcher rotation this off season and Atlanta Braves free agent Shane Bieber seems to be a possible option.
Bieber is coming off a rough 2024 season since he missed the entire year due to a right elbow injury which has labelled him a risk in terms of free agent signings this off-season which is not the first time he has dealt with some serious injuries.

While signing Bieber does come with some risk due to his injury history, he is also a former Cy Young winner and could easily return to the pitcher he once was if he ends up properly recovering from his Tommy John Surgery.
Bieber only made two starts this season before undergoing Tommy John but they were both impressive outings.-Shushkewich
Bieber will also only likely be ready at the midway point of the 2025 season which is why he will likely not be able to land a monster deal but the reward of signing him seems to outweigh the risk since he can be an incredible pitcher when healthy. Additionally, the risk is not too high since Bieber will not be attracting major long term offers due to his injury history.
He likely won't be ready to go until at least midway through the season and that is assuming everything goes according to plan and there are no setbacks. While a deal with three or more years (unless various options are involved) is likely off the table, a contract worth two years (with a potential third-year option) similar to what Brandon Woodruff inked last season might be the play. -Shushkewich
This could be a very interesting signing for the Blue Jays who are looking to sign a pitcher to help their starting rotation and he could end up being the steal of the off-season it is just unfortunate that he will miss the first half of the season.
