Former Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Yusei Kikuchi caught up with Hazel Mae before their game against the Los Angeles Angels tonight and Kikuchi revealed why he did not return to Toronto.
Kikuchi was trade by the Blue Jays at last year's trade deadline to the Houston Astros for a sizeable package and was a free agent this off-season in which he signed a three year deal with the Angels.

The Blue Jays were in need of starting pitchers this off-season which is why many were surprised they did not bring back Kikuchi since he was so solid for them and they could get him at a decent price.
During an interview this afternoon with Hazel Mae, Kikuchi revealed that the Blue Jays never even made him an offer to return to Toronto which he said he understood but also added that he missed the city a lot.

Clearly Kikuchi would have been willing to return to Toronto and when looking at the current spot their are in when it comes to starting pitchers, it might have been the right move to bring him back.
Kikuchi has been off to a slow start with the Angels this season as he currently has a 4.21 ERA with a 0-4 record but has been starting to play better lately as he currently has 33 strikeouts in 36.1 innings pitched.
At the end of the day the Blue Jays did not end up bringing him back but it is surprising to find out that they did not even make him an offer.
