The Washington Nationals dropped some heavy news this afternoon as they decided to fire general manager Mike Rizzo and former Toronto Blue Jays outfielder turned manager of the Nationals Dave Martinez.

The Nationals are currently one of the worst teams in the MLB with a 37-53 record and after the loss this afternoon to the Boston Red Sox, they decided to part ways with their Martinez and Rizzo.

The Nationals announced after their loss to the Red Sox this afternoon that they have decided to part ways with general manager Mike Rizzo and manager Dave Martinez.
The Washington Nationals reportedly are changing leadership after a shaky start to the season.

Per ESPN's Jeff Passan, the Nationals fired general manager Mike Rizzo and manager Dave Martinez on Sunday. Washington is 37-53 on the season, sitting in fifth place in the NL East. -Peters

BREAKING: The Washington Nationals have fired general manager Mike Rizzo and manager Dave Martinez, sources tell ESPN.
Martinez only played in Toronto for 47 games during the 2000 MLB season where he finished with 2 homeruns, 22 RBIs, a .311 batting average and .393 on base percentage.
The Nationals have yet to speak on who will be replacing Martinez and Rizzo for the time being but it looks like they needed some serious changes as they currently sit fifth in the division and decided to clean house.
Hopefully the former Blue Jays outfielder will be able to find himself a new job soon as he did lead the Nationals to a World Series win a few years ago.
