Former Blue Jays pitcher Zach Pop has been DFA'd by the Seattle Mariners
The Mariners announce that they decided to DFA Pop to make room on their 40 man roster for pitcher Juan Burgos as this is now the second time this season Pop has been DFA'd.
The Mariners have DFA'd RHP Zach Pop and selected the contract of RHP Juan Burgos in the corresponding move. Burgos will make his MLB debut if he sees game action.
Pop has had a rough season in 2025 as his ERA currently sits at 13.50 in 5.1 innings pitched with only 3 strikeouts and a 2.25 WHIP.
Due to this rough numbers, Pop will likely have to sign a minor league deal if he plans on landing a new contract if he does not opt to accept the Mariners assignment to the minors.
When the Blue Jays acquired Pop, he seemed to have a promising future as he finished the 2022 season with a 2.77 ERA but since then has been unable to hold his ERA below 5.00.
Hopefully if he returns to free agency he will be able to find himself
