George Springer is making sure everyone knows Team USA won hockey gold and it proves this clubhouse is ready to have fun again.
The Winter Olympics in Milan Cortina just wrapped up with an absolute thriller on the ice.
Team USA finally broke their 46-year drought to beat Canada 2-1 in a heart-stopping overtime game.
And while the Blue Jays play in Toronto, their American stars were not hiding their national pride today.
George Springer (Drafted 1st round, 2011 by Houston) rolled into batting practice wearing a Team USA hockey jersey to face Kevin Gausman.
George Springer burst out of the #BlueJays’ clubhouse in celebration.
He’s about to take live BP in his Team USA jersey.
He’s about to take live BP in his Team USA jersey.
It is hilarious to see this kind of cross-border banter happening right in the middle of spring training.
Springer and Ernie Clement (Drafted 4th round, 2017 by Cleveland) are known as the biggest hockey fans in the room.
They were completely glued to the television while the Americans secured the ultimate victory over their Canadian teammates.
Hearing the loud chants echo from their lockers is exactly the kind of friendly rivalry that builds strong teams.
The chemistry is building perfectly for a massive season
There is a massive sense of relief among fans seeing these guys so relaxed and confident before the grueling season begins.
Good energy is the unspoken currency of a championship run and the Jays seem to have it in spades right now.
Springer is coming off an incredible 2025 where he hit .309 with 32 home runs.
He is the veteran leader this team leans on when the pressure gets heavy and the lights shine brightest.
Clement also proved his everyday worth last year by hitting .277 with 9 home runs over 157 games.
Having both of them leading the charge and keeping the mood light sets a phenomenal tone for the younger guys.
If this early enthusiasm translates to the regular season, the American League East is going to be in serious trouble.
For now, the Canadians on the roster will just have to quietly take the chirping from their American brothers.
Real baseball is officially back and the boys are clearly buzzing under the Florida sun.
