The main way Mr. Atkins can get himself the boot is if he decided to part ways with the hot-hitting Vladimir Guerrero Jr..
With that being said, he wont get fired because of the trade itself, but because Vladdy has all the leverage. If the first basemen decided to go to free agency at the end of his contract in 2025, they may not be able to afford him, so if they trade him now the return may not be as good.

There is no plausable reason why Atkins could come up with why it is a good idea to let go of the star, and even though he expressed he wants to re-sign him, it is hard to put any trust in the Blue Jays GM.
