Shaun Anderson, who once pitched for the Blue Jays, is right back with the Angels again.
Los Angeles announced the signing Sept. 4, per the MiLB Transactions Log, putting the 31-year-old on another minor-league deal.
The 6-foot-6 right-hander brings 88 games of MLB experience across a well-traveled career.
This particular arrangement with the Angels has become a strange loop of its own.
Anderson first signed there on Feb. 12, 2025. Since then, he's elected free agency seven separate times, and signed a new minor-league deal with the same club every single time.
He's gone through that exact cycle three times in 2026 alone.
That's not a typical organizational relationship. It's closer to a revolving door that keeps landing on the same address.
How his brief Blue Jays stint fits into a well-traveled career
Toronto claimed him off waivers from the Padres back in 2022, and he played one MLB game for the Blue Jays that season.
That outing didn't go well, surrendering four hits and two earned runs in a single inning.
Most of his time in Toronto came at Triple-A Buffalo, where he posted 76 strikeouts, two holds, and a save across 88 innings over 36 games, 15 as a starter.
Beyond Toronto and the Angels, Anderson has also made stops with the Red Sox, Giants, Twins, Rangers, Orioles, Phillies, Marlins, and Padres.
That's nine organizations across a career built almost entirely on minor-league deals and short opportunities.
Blue Jays fans won't remember much from his brief stint in Toronto, but the Angels seem to have found a working arrangement that keeps bringing him back.
Whether this eighth Angels contract finally sticks, or he elects free agency for a ninth time before the year is out, is anyone's guess at this point.
Do you think Shaun Anderson signs with the Angels again after this contract runs its course?
