The Toronto Blue Jays starting rotation has been off to a solid start but with Max Scherzer still out, they are apparently looking to possibly improve their rotation which could involved a trade with the Miami Marlins.
The Blue Jays starting rotation has been on fire so far this year even with Scherzer out as Easton Lucas has stepped up in a major way but the Blue Jays seem to think this is not a permanent solution.
Trade offer announced between the Blue Jays and Marlins involving Sandy Alcantara
The Blue Jays are currently off to a strong start this season but it looks like they might not be satisfied just yet as which is why they have been tied to multiple possible trades to start the season.
According to reports, a possible trade could take place between the Blue Jays and Marlins which would send Sandy Alcántara to Toronto while the Marlins would get Trey Yesavage, Alan Roden and Alan Roden.
ClutchPoints' Joey Mistretta proposed this blockbuster trade to bring Sandy Alcantara from the Miami Marlins to Toronto:
Blue Jays receive: right-handed pitcher Sandy Alcantara Marlins receive: right-handed pitcher Trey Yesavage (No.2 prospect), outfielder Alan Roden (No.5 prospect) and third baseman/outfielder Charlie McAdoo (No.13 prospect) -Mohammed
Despite struggling a bit the last two season in Miami, Alcantara did win the Cy Young award for best pitcher in the National League back in 2022 as he finished with a 2.28 ERA that season.
Alcantara won the Cy Young Award in 2022 but struggled in 2023. He missed all of 2024 but now figures to be a hot name near the trade deadline. He signed a five-year, $56 million extension in 2021, with a $21 million club option for 2027. His club control will only drive up his asking price. -Mohammed
This could end up being a massive trade for the Blue Jays since they would be giving up a lot of prospects but would get an incredible pitcher in return.
