The Toronto Blue Jays have been looking into possibly re-signing Bo Bichette to a contract extension but it looks like things have taken a turn for the worst.
Terrible news announced regarding Blue Jays negotiations with Bo Bichette
Bichette has been off to incredible start this season and many would consider him the team's best player as of right now as he is performing defensively and at the plate but it looks like it is not for the Blue Jays.
Thanks to his clutch 2-run single in the 8th, Blue Jays Bo Bichette has a .313 career AVG & .885 OPS with RISP & 2 outs
MLB insider Jon Heyman recently announced that the chances of Bichette re-signing in Toronto are very slim as he is expected to enter free agency next off-season which means this is probably his last season in Toronto.
Heyman: Bo Bichette "destined" for free agency; likely to leave Blue Jays.
The good news is that Heyman also stated that he believes that the Blue Jays are expected to close on a deal with Guerrero for around $500 million shortly but there is no guarantee until the deal is signed.
The smart move would be to try and keep both Guerrero and Bichette but it looks like the Blue Jays priority is Guerrero which does make sense.
Hopefully the Blue Jays find a way to keep Bichette in Toronto but for the time it seems unlikely.
