The Toronto Blue Jays seem worried about pitcher Max Scherzer's latest thumb injury as he has dealt with multiple issues over the last two seasons.
The Blue Jays announced a few days ago that they that Scherzer has gone down with a thumb injury on his throwing hand but have yet to announce the severity of the issue.
Unfortunately for Scherzer, the three-time Cy Young winner is back on the injury report. The Toronto Blue Jays scratched Scherzer from Thursday's start against the Baltimore Orioles with a thumb injury. -Elman
The Blue Jays are worried with Max Scherzer's latest injury
Scherzer is now 40 years old and over the last two years has dealt with a lot more injuries than he is used to as he only made 9 starts for the Texas Rangers last season.

While a thumb injury does not sound too bad, this seems to be connected to an issue that he had last season which kept him out for a long period of time since the problem is a nerve connected from his thumb to his tricep.
Theoretically, a sore right thumb doesn't sound too bad. However, Scherzer missed time last year with a nerve issue in his right arm, one spanning his thumbs to his triceps. -Elman
The Blue Jays brought in Scherzer to help with the team's starting rotation that struggled last season and while some were worried about his injury, it was clear that having him would only help.
Now with Scherzer out, this will definitely affect the Blue Jays rotation which is why they need him to get back quickly and be at the top of his game if they want to go far in the playoffs.
Toronto needs Scherzer at his best, though we're not sure what that'd look like as he approaches 40. -Elman
It will be interesting to see how quickly Scherzer is able to get back on the field and when he does, if he will be able to perform at the same level he was during Spring Training.
