The New York Yankees are looking for to replace shortstop Anthony Volpe and it looks like they are interested in Bo Bichette.
The Blue Jays have made it clear that they will not sign Bo Bichette to a contract extension since they have yet to begin any discussions with him which is why many believe that they will end up trading him or losing him in free agency.
Yankees could be interested in Blue Jays Bo Bichette at the trade deadline
According to a recent report, since the Blue Jays will not re-sign Bichette, they might look to trading him even though they have stated that they will hold him until at east the end of the season.
The Yankees are apparently interested in improving at the shortstop position which is where these rumors surrounding Bichette to New York stem from.
"At the end of the day, Bichette would give the Yankees a much higher floor with the same superstar ceiling," wrote Parello. "He'd cost more in terms of cash than Volpe, who becomes arbitration eligible for the first time after this season, but after years of no significant improvement, the cost is warranted to secure a player who can be part of a championship core. Anthony Volpe might be a fine player, but in comparison, he doesn't make the impact the Yankees need." -Parello
This is a ridiculous take since even if the Yankees are looking for a new shortstop, there only chance of landing Bichette is in free agency since the Blue Jays would not trade him at the deadline to a team they are currently battling for first place in the division.
At the end of the day no one really knows what will happen until it finally does but if for some reason the Blue Jays decide to trade Bichette to the Yankees at the deadline, it might go down as one of the worst moves in MLB history.
