McKinney was recently released by
the New York Mets after struggling with their minor league affiliate team in which he had a .184 batting average with a .285 on base percentage and 3 homeruns on the season.
He'd been out to a rough start for the Mets' top farm team, hitting .184/.285/.307 with 34 strikeouts over 33 games. -Franco
Since landing in Texas, McKinney has already been playing much better in his first few games as he currently has a .300 batting average with a .417 on base percentage and .817 OPS which is on a small sample size but is still much better.
McKinney's best season in the MLB came back in 2019 with the Blue Jays in which he played in 84 games as he finished the season with a .215 batting average, .274 on base percentage and 12 homeruns with 28 RBIs.
The chances of McKinney seeing anymore time in the MLB if he does figure out a way to dominate in Triple-A are very slim as his numbers over the last few years between the majors and minors.
