The Toronto Blue Jays surprised many when they decided to keep Alan Roden on the team but it looks like that experiment is finally coming to an end.

Roden was one of the Blue Jays best players in Spring Training especially on offense but unfortunately he has since cooled off in a major way which is why his time with the time is likely coming to an end.

Blue Jays rookie Alan Roden will likely be optioned down to triple-A

The Blue Jays have been having an incredibly hard time when it comes to generating offense lately which is partially the reason they have been losing so many games the past couples weeks.
After a 2024 season in which a season-long slump at the plate led to a full-on overhaul of the team's approach to hitting, the results so far in 2025 have been ... well, about the same so far. -Landers

Roden had a great first few games in the MLB to follow up on his great Spring Training but he has since quieted down and currently has 0 hits in his last 26 at bats with a current batting average of .188.
Of course, as is so often the case, the league adjusts - and Roden has had a hard time adjusting back. He's hitless in his last 26 plate appearances, dropping his season-long slash line down to .188 /.266/.275. Suddenly, he looks about as overmatched as you'd expect a rookie who never cracked any top-100 prospect lists and never hit for a ton of power in the Minor Leagues. -Landers

The Blue Jays clearly have a solid prospect in Roden but as they currently need hits they cannot and sit around, waiting for him to figure it out which is why he will likely be optioned very soon.
But the Jays are desperate for a spark before this season spirals out of control, and it's time to give other young guys a chance - whether that's Addison Barger or someone from the Minors like Orelvis Martinez. -Landers

This is far from the end for Roden with the Blue Jays as he is still very young with a ton of potential but they need more from him if he wants to stay in the majors.
