The Toronto Blue Jays announced this morning quite the update regarding second baseman Andres Gimenez which might see him back in the lineup very soon.

Gimenez has been on the injured list since the beginning on the month due to a quad strain which many thought would only keep him out for a few days but it has now almost been a month.

Blue Jays announce injury update regarding second baseman Andres Gimenez

Gimenez has been slowly making his way back as he had now made two starts at second base with the Dunedin Blue Jays in which he went 0 for 3 last night with a sac fly RBI that gave them the lead run.
The 26-year-old infielder played his second rehab game with single-A Dunedin on Thursday, going 0-for-3 with a sac-fly and a walk across five plate appearances. He also spent the entire night at second base, fielding the position in back-to-back contests. -Hall

After this stint in Dunedin, the Blue Jays announced that Gimenez is now headed back to Toronto this weekend to determine if he is cleared to return to the active roster or if he needs a few more rehab games in Buffalo.
The Toronto Blue Jays plan to re-evaluate Giménez's status this weekend, which will determine if he'll require additional rehab games or can be cleared to return to the active roster. If he needs a few extra reps, chances are those will likely occur in triple-A with the Buffalo Bisons. -Hall

This is great news for the Blue Jays who will definitely benefit from having Gimenez back in the lineup when speaking of defense but on the other hand their struggling offense will definitely not improve with this.
Gimenez is far from being seen as a machine at the plate and with how he was swinging the bat in Dunedin, it looked like the Blue Jays should not expect to get a ton of offense when he returns.
Regardless of this, the Blue Jays are excited to get at least of their players back on the injured list.
