The Toronto Blue Jays are looking to be buyers at the trade deadline coming up and their are being urged to go after Pittsburgh Pirates World Series Champion pitcher Andrew Heaney.

The Blue Jays are currently having some troubles with their starting rotation as Max Scherzer is still out and with Bowden Francis pitching so poorly, bringing in a new pitcher could only help.

The Blue Jays have been on fire lately but there is no doubt that their starting rotation needs help as their only loss in the last 8 games comes off a Francis start in which he was pulled after 1.2 innings.
A recent report urged the Blue Jays to look into acquiring Pirates pitcher Andrew Heaney who Pittsburgh will likely try to trade at the deadline as he would be a perfect addition for the Blue Jays right before the playoffs.
In a recent YouTube video, content creator Robbie Hyde named Pittsburgh Pirates starter Andrew Heaney as the top prospective Blue Jays trade target. Heaney was a member of the 2023 World Champion Texas Rangers. -Roberts

"If they buy, I think Andrew Heaney would be a solid addition here," Hyde said. "Max Scherzer's been out with a thumb injury, and they only rank 21st overall in Fangraphs starting pitching wins above replacement." -Hyde

Despite being 34 years old, Heaney is having a very solid season on a horrific Pirates team as he currently has a 3.39 ERA with a 3-4 record on the season in 12 starts with 47 strikeouts in 66.1 innings pitched.
If the Blue Jays can find a way to get Heaney and possible move on from Francis, their rotation can definitely be quite scary heading into the 2025 playoffs with the return of Max Scherzer and Alek Manoah.
Finding a way to fix the Francis problem is the Blue Jays main concern right now because any time he has taken the mound lately it has been a huge problem for Toronto.
