The Toronto Blue Jays have lost another pitcher to injury forcing them to make a big move at the deadline
The Toronto Blue Jays announced yesterday that relief pitcher Ryan Burr has been placed on 60 day IL which will likely force the team to make some extra moves at the trade deadline.
The Blue Jays announced yesterday ahead of their game against the Athletics that Ryan Burr's scan revealed a torn rotator cuff which is why they placed him on 60 day IL.
Blue Jays will be forced to make certain moves at the trade deadline due to recent injuries
The Blue Jays placed Burr on 60 day IL yesterday and also had relief pitcher Nick Sandlin who just got back from injury sent back to IL after his had a shoulder issue a few days ago.
The Blue Jays called up Tommy Nance to replace Burr for right now but they certainly need other options if Burr ends up being out for the rest of the season.
The Toronto Blue Jays recently lost reliever Ryan Burr to the injured list with a rotator cuff strain, which is a serious injury. Burr was placed on the 60-day injured list and Tommy Nance has been recalled to fill in his spot in the bullpen after spending the season in Triple-A. -Dionis
The Blue Jays will clearly be busy at the deadline as it was certain they are going after a starting pitcher but now they will also for sure be looking for at least one relief pitcher.
There are a lot of ways the Blue Jays can approach this, whether that be a situational arm, high leverage, or rental. A fun idea to think about would be a package of Mitch Keller and Caleb Ferguson from the Pittsburgh Pirates to help stabilize the rotation and add a reliable southpaw to the bullpen. -Dionis
The market will have quite a few solid relievers available at the trade deadline but the worrisome part is that how much will the Blue Jays have to give up to acquire a solid bullpen pitcher.
If Ross Atkins really is looking for a starting and relief pitcher plus a right handed bat, there will likely be quite a few prospects on their way out of Toronto very soon.
