In a little more than three weeks, the Toronto Blue Jays will face off against the New York Yankees in a Canada Day game set for 3:07pm on July 1 at Rogers Centre in downtown Toronto.
On Monday, the Blue Jays revealed the special hats they'll sport during their Canada Day matchup against one of their fiercest rivals.
Mixed emotions as Blue Jays reveal bold new holiday hat.
Adam Laskaris from DH Sports writes that this year's version showcases a light blue base paired with a red and white logo and topped off with a red brim.
What sets it apart, and marks a first in the MLB, is the rope detail across the bill, blending in a vintage golf aesthetic that's made a trendy comeback in recent years.
"As is tradition, the Jays are typically one of the first MLB teams to debut their specialty hats on July 1, with the American teams showing them off three days later on the Fourth of July festivities. For the 29 other teams, it's branded as part of the 'Stars and Stripes' collection." -Laskaris
It's a noticeable upgrade from the much-criticized 2022 version, which controversially featured an American flag over the Blue Jays' logo.
Fans looking to grab the new hat can find it at the MLB Shop or check for stock at the Jays Shop inside Rogers Centre.
"There's the classic 59Fifty fitted style, which is the one actual players will wear on the field, but there's also a plethora of adjustable options. They won't be cheap, though, with the official on-field version of the hat retailing for $77.99." -Laskaris
Ticketmaster is already showing that the game is nearly sold out, with only a handful of standing-room tickets still up for grabs.
