Anthony Santander of the Toronto Blue Jays has been injured since the month of may, but the slugger is on a $92.5million contract and he needs to prove his value now that he has returned in time for the MLB postseason.
The Blue Jays have struggled as of late and a resurgence from Santander can put them back where they belong.
"The race for the AL East was all but won for the Blue Jays last week, but with some poor results over the weekend, the race with the Yankees is getting closer and closer."-Rainone
Anthony Santander's value could get proven through strong postseason performance.
Bryan Jaeger of Jays Journal spoke on the urgency Santander needs to have to prove his worth to the Blue Jays. What has seemed like a grim two weeks for the Blue Jays, is where Santander can be the light at the end of the tunnel, and provide some much needed offence.
"They've lost their AL East lead, being tied with the New York Yankees, although the Blue Jays own the tiebreaker, and the Seattle Mariners are within a game of the American League best record. However, the Blue Jays' offense is struggling to produce runs. The team is feeling a massive void ever since Bo Bichette's knee sprain on September 6, which has kept him on the injured list."-Jaeger
Santander has been out since the month of May with a shoulder injury, he was decent before his injury putting up a stat line of .179/.273/.304 with 14 runs, six home runs, and 18 knocked in over 209 plate appearances. But this stat line does not reflect a near $100M player.
"Santander returns when the Blue Jays need a solution for their slumping offense and postseason aspirations. Having secured a playoff spot, their path to a division title and a Wild Card bye likely depends on Santander sparking the lineup."-Jaeger
If the Blue Jays are to have a deep playoff run they'll need their premier players to carry the load, and that includes Santander.
