Earlier today, an MRI confirmed that Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Erik Swanson does not have any structural damage in his right arm.
This is according to Keegan Matheson of MLB.com As further information was shown that he is dealing with a «median nerve entrapment» which requires a cortisone shot and will allow Swanson to throw in the next few days.
Swanson hopes for a better season after last season's disaster
Swanson was acquired by the Blue Jays in a November 2022 deal where the Blue Jays said outfielder TE Oscar Hernandez to the Seattle Mariners in exchange for Swanson.
Last season, the 31-year-old righthander had a terrible start to his season posting an ERA of 5.03 with 37 strikeouts and 39 innings pitched. The second-half of the year was far better as he had an ERA of 2.55.
Swanson has yet to appear in a spring training game and continues to meet with specialists especially elbow specialist Dr Keith Meister.

Blue Jays evaluating Swanson and pitching staff
The Blue Jays organization has a few weeks left of spring training to evaluate their pitching staff and their relievers to see who will fit well in their rotations.
There are still some question marks regarding some pitchers including Yariel Rodriguez as he would be as many feel he'll be better suited in the bullpen role rather than the starting role.
The Blue Jays starting rotation is a lock as Kevin Gausman, Jose Berrios, Chris Bassitt, Newcomer Max Scherzer and Bowden Francis will be the teams big five.
The Blue Jays discovered Lazaro Estrada - who has some of the most unique pitch characteristics in the organization - at an old Dominican Air Force base in 2016 Nearly a decade later, he's on the cusp of the majors
The Blue Jays coaching staff hopes that Swanson and the other relievers are ready to go has the Blue Jays home opener is set for Thursday March 27th against the Baltimore Orioles.
The Blue Jays will have a four-game home stand and series. First pitch will be thrown at 3:07 PM eastern.
