The Milwaukee Brewers face some key choices as the trade deadline approaches.

Entering Wednesday with a 39-35 record, they trail the Chicago Cubs by 6.5 games in the NL Central but are only one game out of a National League Wild Card spot.

Blue Jays linked to Brewers' ace in blockbuster deal.

Colin Keane from The Sporting News asks whether the Brewers should go all-in on a postseason run or shift gears and capitalize on their assets with a significant trade to build for the future.
MLB.com's Mark Feinsand recently offered his take on Milwaukee's possible approach, hinting that the Brewers might part ways with their top pitcher while his trade value is at its highest.
«Like the (Tampa Bay) Rays, the Brewers have a history of dealing players as they get closer to free agency (see Josh Hader, Corbin Burnes and Devin Williams), though trading (Freddy) Peralta would be a bold move given that Milwaukee sits only 1 1/2 games out of a Wild Card spot. Still, with an $8 million salary in 2025 and an $8 million club option for 2026, Peralta would surely draw interest from teams looking for controllable pitching, which is always a popular target around the Trade Deadline. Potential fits: (Toronto) Blue Jays, (Atlanta) Braves, (Baltimore) Orioles, (New York) Yankees." -Feinsand

Could the Blue Jays land Freddy Peralta? Toronto would undoubtedly jump at the chance to bolster their rotation with a 29-year-old boasting a 2.60 ERA, 1.13 WHIP, and 84 strikeouts over 15 starts in 2025, because really, who wouldn't?
"With a cost-controlled $8 million salary for 2025 and an $8 million club option for 2026, Peralta offers Toronto a rare chance to add a top-tier starter without breaking the bank." -Keane

For Toronto, landing Peralta could be a game-changer for their rotation and a clear statement that they're going all-in for a deep October run. The real question is will Milwaukee actually make him available?
