Toronto Blue Jays GM Ross Atkins has some serious contract issues on his hands

All Blue Jays fans are aware that Guerrero's deal is set to expire as the two parties have been in contract negotiations over the last couple weeks but there is a lot more than just Guerrero on an expiring deal between now and the end of the 22026 season.

While everyone seems to be focusing on Guerrero's next contract, the Blue Jays front office needs to start looking at all their other players approaching expiring deals as there is a bunch of them.

Apart from Guerrero there is shortstop Bo Bichette and pitcher Chris Bassitt that also have deals set to expire at the end of the 2025 season which is why they have been looking to trade them.

Then looking at the 2026 season, the Blue Jays have pitcher Kevin Gausman, outfielders Daulton Varsho and George Springer all on expiring deals as well which is a lot of expiring deals across two years.

Throughout the entire list of players that have deals finishing in the next two years, the only one that seems to be a lock to get a contract extension is Varsho as even Guerrero might not sign since they might not agree on the amount.

Gausman is one that is probably on the fence since if the Blue Jays are able to keep him on a team friendly deal they will but the chances that he wants to stay this late in his career if the Blue Jays do not prove that they are trying to win a World Series next season is very slim.

It will interesting to see who Atkins ends up keeping but hopefully he is looking at all possibilities because it will come quickly.
