The Blue Jays bullpen has not looked great so far this season especially when looking at all their injuries on top of this but one of the few bright lights has been Jeff Hoffman.
Blue Jays pitcher Jeff Hoffman closes things out against the Orioles
The Blue Jays almost missed out on Hoffman this off-season as he agreed to a deal with the Orioles but they ended up taking back the offer after his physical showed that his shoulder has some issues.
Prior to the season, Hoffman stated that he was excited to face the Orioles in the first week of the season due to everything that happened with them during the off-season.
Jeff Hoffman was going to sign with the Orioles until they they didn't pass his physical and then collects his first save going 1-2-3 with two strikeouts for the Blue Jays against the Orioles.
Looks like
Hoffman wanted to show the Orioles what they missed out on by not signing him as he took down all three batters including two strikeouts to earn his first save as a Blue Jay.
Jeff Hoffman gets the save as the
@BlueJays
win it 3-1 to split the series with the Orioles!
Clearly the Orioles made quite the mistake in letting go of
Hoffman and not only did they miss out on a solid pitcher but they will now have to face him all season long as he plays for a divisional rival.
While Toronto made quite a few errors this off-season, signing Hoffman to a three year deal certainly was not one of them.
