The "wild card" of the Blue Jays bullpen is officially back, and he sounds ready to wreak havoc on opposing hitters.
While everyone has been obsessing over the closer battle between Jeff Hoffman and Tyler Rogers, a critical piece of the puzzle has quietly gotten healthy.
John Schneider confirmed today that Yimi Garcia (Signed as Free Agent, 2024) has been "throwing for numerous weeks" and is feeling good after his elbow surgery last September.
Following surgery to clean up scar tissue in his right elbow last Sept, Yimi Garcia has been "feeling good and throwing for numerous weeks now,” says manager John Schneider

The team is rightfully being cautious with his build-up, but the goal is to have him ready for Opening Day.
This is massive news because a healthy Garcia changes the entire equation for the late innings.
Last season, before his elbow flared up, he was striking out batters at an elite clip (10.7 K/9) with a fastball that still touches 96 mph.
We all saw how thin the bridge to the ninth inning got when he went down.
A healthy Yimi is the perfect high-leverage stabilizer
If he can reclaim his form, he gives Schneider a veteran weapon who isn't afraid of the big moment.
His ability to miss bats with that high-spin four-seamer and wipeout slider makes him a nightmare for right-handed hitters.
Having him back in the fold allows guys like Louis Varland to be used more creatively instead of being forced into roles they might not be ready for.
The "cautious" approach is smart; we don't need him to be a hero in March, we need him to be a beast in October.
If he’s on the mound for the opener, it’s a bonus. But if he’s dominating in the playoffs, it’s a game-changer.
Welcome back, Yimi. We missed the heat.
