Connor Seabold is officially a Blue Jay, signing a minor league contract with an invitation to Spring Training that adds immediate competition for the long-relief role.

This isn't the splashy headline fans were screaming for but it might be the smartest subtle move of the winter.
General Manager Ross Atkins loves a good reclamation project.
Seabold fits that mold perfectly.
The 30-year-old right-hander spent the 2024 season dominating in the KBO with the Samsung Lions.
He posted a sparkling 3.43 ERA over 160 innings in Korea, he struck out 158 batters and walked just 40.That performance earned him another shot at the big leagues in 2025.
Things didn't go as planned back in the States.
He bounced between the Rays and Braves organizations last year. His MLB sample size in 2025 was tiny, logging just 10.1 innings with a 4.35 ERA.
You can see the frustration on his face as he walks off the mound after a rough outing, knowing he missed his spot.
The Blue Jays aren't asking him to be an ace.
They need someone who can eat innings in Buffalo or step in for a spot start.

Fans are cautiously optimistic that this is a low-risk move with zero downside if he doesn't pan out.
The rotation has questions at the back end and Seabold offers a safety net.
His career MLB ERA of 7.79 is ugly, there is no hiding that but his KBO success suggests the stuff is there when his command is on.
He limits walks, which is a trait this front office covets, if he can replicate even 80% of his Korean form, he steals a roster spot, if not, he provides veteran insurance in Triple-A.
It's a depth signing, plain and simple but in a 162-game grind, these are the moves that save a bullpen in August.
