A scary incident took place yesterday during the Minnesota Twins and New York Meets game as umpire Hunter Wendelstedt took a line-drive to the head.

While baseball might not be a physical sport like hockey, it is still very dangerous due to speed the ball is constantly travelling at whether it is hit or being throw which makes it so dangerous.

Wendelstedt was the first base umpire for Wednesday game between the Twins and Mets as a scary moment took place in the seventh inning as he took a foul ball to the head.
This umpire got smoked
The incident occurred with one out in the inning and with Mets outfielder Tyrone Taylor at the plate. Taylor fouled off a pitch from Twins reliever Louie Varland, and then immediately reacted in horror as he saw the line drive strike Wendelstedt's head. -Anderson

The first base umpire was on the ground for quite some time after being hit but was able to leave the field on his own two feet which was definitely an encouraging sign before he was checked out.
Mets manager Carlos Mendoza gave an update after the game that Wendelstedt was doing fine and that despite the scary moment, he did not have a serious injury.
Hunter Wendelstedt, serving as the first-base umpire for Wednesday's game between the New York Mets and Minnesota Twins, is "fine" after being struck in the head by a foul ball during the late stages of the contest, Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said after the game. Mendoza added that he was thankful Wendelstedt was "doing well" after the scary scene unfolded during the seventh. -Anderson

Whenever a player or umpire takes a ball to the head it is a very scary moment but this all ended up being alright which is great news for Wendelstedt.
