Miami Marlins making baseball history with the first ever practice squad

It was revealed by Fox Sports Florida Andy Slater that the Miami Marlins will be creating a first ever practice squad for this upcoming season.
The idea states that for whoever has made the cut, will be asked to be available for 10 to 15 home games when their single A Affiliate the Jupiter Hammerheads our playing at home.
Players will be paid for their games with access to professional coaching
In the coming days, players will be able to try out for the practice squad. Those making it will be paid $150 per day, and given "an opportunity to gain exposure to professional players and coaches, enhance your understanding of high-level training tactics, and receive performance data on your practice sessions when applicable." - Mike Gunzelman
Very interesting. The Marlins are forming a practice squad to play against their Low-A affiliate.
Kyle Glaser of MLB.com explained and confirmed that the practice squad would be play against the Marlins single A affiliate and would be a path for players to reach the professional ranks and potentially help them transition from being a player and into a coaching role if their career does not go further.
It's certainly a unique idea for baseball as it's never been done with the sport as the NFL has had practice squads for many years.
Marlins looking for ways to restore franchise
The Marlins were one of the worst teams in baseball last season as they had a record of 62-100 and were at the bottom of the National League East.
No other Major League team has decided to go this route and the Marlins are attempting define any way they can to seek talent and maybe help their team become a better organization.
Many on social media have had fun with this announcement and it remains to be seen on how well it will play out as the Marlins look to their opening day with spring training just a few weeks remaining.
