Ross Atkins has been at the helm of the Toronto Blue Jays as their general manager for seven years, ever since he joined the organization back in 2015. Throughout his time in Toronto, Atkins has made some impactful moves in regards to their players and acquisitions. Whether or not fans agree with the direction he continues to take the Blue Jays in, debate about his decisions still go on today.

Toronto Blue Jays: A Ross Atkins Trade History Evaluation

In Return for Matt Chapman, Oakland received Kirby Snead, Zach Logue, Kevin Smith and Gunnar Hoglund. This trade reflected Toronto's approach to enhancing their roster with proven talent. Chapman's addition brings a potent offensive and defensive presence to the Blue Jays' infield, as it addressed a key area in need of help for the Jays.
The Toronto Blue Jays traded pitcher Drew Hutchinson back in 2016 to the Pittsburgh Pirates in exchange for a package including left-handed pitcher Francisco Liriano, catcher Reese McGuire, and outfielder Harold Ramirez. This transaction reflected Toronto's strategy of acquiring experienced pitching talent in Liriano while also adding young players with potential in regards to McGuire and Ramirez. Liriano's veteran presence provided immediate depth to the Blue Jays' pitching rotation, while McGuire and Ramirez added depth and versatility to their catching and outfield positions.
The Toronto Blue Jays traded Francisco Liriano to the Houston Astros in 2017 in exchange for Teoscar Hernandez and Norichika Aoki. This move welcomed Hernandez's at-bat talent and Aoki's experience to the Blue Jays' outfield.
As a major trade move in 2018, the Toronto Blue Jays traded veteran infielder Steve Pearce to the Boston Red Sox in exchange for young infield prospect Santiago Espinal. This transaction symbolized Toronto's shift towards youth and potential, as Espinal was known for his defensive skills and versatility.
In the same year, the Toronto Blue Jays made a notable trade by sending outfielder Randal Grichuk to the St. Louis Cardinals in return for pitcher Dominic Leone and pitching prospect Conner Greene. This move reflected the Blue Jays' desire to strengthen their pitching depth while also acquiring young talent with potential.
The Blue Jays traded starting pitcher Marcus Stroman in 2019 to the New York Mets in exchange for left-handed pitcher Anthony Kay and right-handed pitcher Simeon Woods Richardson. Kay provided immediate depth to Toronto's pitching with his left-handed arm, while Woods Richardson added further depth and upside as a talented right-handed prospect.
The list of transactions is a long one when it comes to Ross Atkins, and no one can seem to take away his decision making attitude in order to attempt to benefit the future success of the Toronto Blue Jays.
