Aaron Boone tried to play it cool regarding Isiah Kiner-Falefa's recent comments, but the bitterness was impossible to hide.
The Yankees manager was asked about the revelation that the Blue Jays preferred facing New York over Boston in the 2025 ALDS.
IKF, now with the Red Sox, spilled the beans that the Toronto clubhouse saw the Bronx Bombers as the favorable matchup.
Boone's response was a classic mix of dismissal and passive-aggression: "I guess he was right. Little surprising to hear IKF say that, but whatever, that’s fine."
Aaron Boone on IKF saying that the Blue Jays wanted to play the Yankees instead of the Red Sox last October:
“I guess he was right. Little surprising to hear IKF say that, but whatever, that’s fine.”
“I guess he was right. Little surprising to hear IKF say that, but whatever, that’s fine.”
"I guess he was right" is the admission of defeat that every Blue Jays fan has been waiting for.
It confirms what we all felt last October: the mystique of the Pinstripes is officially dead.
The Jays didn't fear the short porch or the bleacher creatures; they welcomed the challenge because they knew they were the better team.
The Yankees are no longer the predators of the American League East
Hearing Boone call it "surprising" shows just how out of touch the organization is with their current standing.
They still believe they are the team everyone wants to avoid, when in reality, they were the target.
Isiah Kiner-Falefa (Signed as Free Agent, 2026 by Red Sox) might be stirring the pot to endear himself to Boston fans, but he's telling the truth.
Toronto hunted the Yankees in the playoffs because they smelled blood in the water.
It’s hilarious to see Boone try to act unbothered when his team was clearly the stepping stone for our World Series run.
This rivalry is only going to get hotter now that the "little brother" narrative has been completely flipped on its head.
We wanted the Yankees, we got the Yankees, and we sent them home.
Boone can say "whatever" all he wants, but he knows the hierarchy of the division has shifted North.
