After a really tough year for the Blue Jays and relief pitcher Tim Mayza, they decided to part ways with him in June but is showing that maybe it was the scenery that was affecting his play.

After being sent down for an assignment for the purpose of putting him on waivers, Mayza was picked up but he New Yok Yankees in July and has proven to be a lot better of a pitcher than shown while apart of the Jays. To be honest, it is not like Mayza has been an all-star on the mound, but with his current numbers in the postseason and the advanced analytics of his pitches, it begs the question if the Blue Jays are at fault for dealing with their pitchers poorly?
When taking a look at his current velocity on his sinker and slider, he is throwing harder than he ever has, and is more accurate, resulting in being a much more efficient and consistent arm out of the pen.
Tim Mayza is topping out at 96 MPH on his sinker and throwing sliders harder than he threw his sinker for most of the last couple seasons with the Blue Jays. In case you needed more evidence this organization has no idea how to maximize it's arms.
Since being with the Yankees, who are currently playing in the ALDS against the Kansas City Royals, has shown that it was either the change of scenery or the way the Yankees handle their bullpens arms that have resulted in his drastic improvement. Mayza's WHIP went from 1.9 with the Blue Jays to an outstanding 1.17 with the Yankees.
Do you think the Toronto Blue Jays mishandle their pitchers?
