Blue Jays Davis Schneider continues to struggle at the plate in Triplee-A
Toronto was hoping that by sending Schneider down to the minors, he would be able to find his swing once again and hopefully be back in the majors at some point this season.
Unfortunately, Schneider has continued to struggle at the plate with
the Buffalo Bisons as he is 2 for 23 since arriving with a 37.9% strike out rate and a 0.87 batting average.
Since his demotion to triple-A, he's 2-for-23 with a 37.9% strikeout rate and a .087/.276/.130 slash line. He has one double and one RBI to his credit, but is working with a .406 OPS and six walks since being moved back down to Buffalo. -Damon
There are rumors that the Blue Jays might actually look to send
Schneider to Dunedin to work on his hitting mechanics as he seems to be at a point of no return if he continues to hit like this.
The best course of action for Schneider may be to send him to Dunedin, where he can undergo some real, tangible mechanical changes at the player development complex and build up some confidence again. -Damon
If Schneider ends up in Dunedin it will be quite the fall from making the Opening Day roster with the Blue Jays to being in Dunedin working on his hitting less than two months later.
For the time being at least, it looks like Schneider will not be back in the majors anytime soon.
Despite being loved by fans in Toronto, Schneider's game is just not where it needs to be for him to play for the Blue Jays.
