The Toronto Blue Jays only have two games left in the season but that did not stop them from shaking things up in the bullpen by optioning pitcher Tommy Nance to the FCL Blue Jays.

Nance has done alright since being acquired by the Blue Jays in early August in a minor league trade with the San Diego Padres. Nance was brought up almost immediately after being acquired by the Blue Jays and did alright compared to the rest of their bullpen apart from a big collapse Tuesday as he helped the Red Sox come back and win a game that Bowden Francis left with zero runs against on the board.
Nance, 33, is the latest casualty of the late-season turnover. After pitching in back-to-back games against the Red Sox and three of the last four days, the Blue Jays obviously felt the need for a fresh arm. He was also a big part of Tuesday's collapse, giving up three runs in the 10th inning and taking the loss after another impressive Bowden Francis outing. -Fisher

The Blue Jays decided to replace Nance with relief pitcher Brett de Geus which Toronto claimed off of waivers from the Miami Marlins a couple weeks ago then optioned him to Triple-A. De Geus has been pitching well in Triple-A which is why the Blue Jays decided to bring him up prior to their series against his former team to close out the season.
The Jays claimed De Geus, 26, off waivers from the Miami Marlins on Sept. 12, an uninspiring move to say the least. He only appeared in three games for the Triple-A Buffalo Bisons before their season ended, but the results from the small sample size were enough to warrant a look at the big league level for a Jays team that is playing out the string. DeGeus didn't allow a run in three innings in Buffalo, giving up three hits with three strikeouts and no walks.

Hopefully the sweep the Marlins in the final two games of the year as they look to enter the 2025 season with some momentum.
