Blue Jays announce signing of pitcher with 97MPH fastball

The Blue Jays have announced the signing of RHP Silvano Hechavarría to a deal which includes a $215,000 signing bonus.

Hechavarría is 6'3 pitcher that has a fastball that ranges from 93-97 MPH at only 21 years old.

Cuban RHP Silvano Hechavarría (21) officially signs with the Toronto Blue Jays. Bonus deal: $215,000.

He is the 18th Cuban-born player to sign in the current international period.

Pitcher of 6-3 height, fastball at 93-97 mph, slider and changeup as secondary pitching.

As the Blue Jays have struggled with pitching this season, specifically pitchers staying healthy, this is a huge signing for the Jays.

It was yet to be announced where he will be starting his professional career in the Blue Jays organization.
