Blue Jays broadcaster Jamie Campbell announces major update on life changing foundation
Toronto Blue Jays broadcaster Jamie Campbell announced quite the update regarding his bursary to help the Matawa First Nations.
Campbell announced that for one of the Blue Jays game a few weeks ago he would be taking pictures with fans at the Blue Jays Central desk for donations to his foundation.
Blue Jays announces update on his foundation from photo session at Royals game
During a recent interview with Yahoo News, Campbell revealed that his photo session with fans before the Blue Jays game against the Kansas City Royals raised $1,600 in 40 minutes.
"Campbell says the Saturday photo session went as planned and over the span of 40 minutes, raised over $1,600.00 geared for Matawa First Nations." -van Hoepen
Campbell stated during the interview that the reason he began the foundation 6 years ago is because his kids had the chance to walk to school which is something he wants First Nations students to have.
"My kids got to walk to their public schools for the entirety of their public school careers," Campbell said in an interview with Yahoo News Canada. "For so many First Nations students, that's just not a reality." -Campbell
According to the Blue Jays Central host, the Matawa First Nations have benefited from the financial assistance in which the foundation has provided.
"I have personally witnessed the benefit of this financial assistance," said Campbell. "There are students at Matawa First Nations getting an opportunity to achieve things that will resonate within their communities long-term." -Campbell
Campbell is loved by Blue Jays fans for gesture such as this as he has taken his platform as a broadcaster for the Blue Jays and used it to help the community.
Blue Jays fans have also played a big part in the success of the foundation as many fans have taken the time to donate helping the lives of many young kids.
At the end of the interview, Campbell made sure to state how thankful he was for the support from the Sportsnet and Blue Jays staff.
