Thousands of fans have voiced their displeasure with Ticketmaster ahead of the World Series, the Toronto Blue Jays will be playing host to the Los Angeles Dodgers in games 1 and 2, and the tickets were sold out in ten minutes, but soon after scalpers relisted these same tickets at 5 or 6 times the original price.

Ticketmaster has always been scrutinized for having a monopoly on ticket prices and distribution, which causes for extreme price gouging.

World Series tickets get out of hand and Blue Jays fans are outraged.

Spiro Papuckoski of the Toronto Sun covered the insane price gouging by scalpers, after the tickets for the World Series in Toronto were completely sold out in mere minutes.
The tickets were being resold for an insanely high premium and fans are blaming Ticketmaster.
"Many people shared their frustrations by ranting and directing profanity at Ticketmaster on social media after a search for seats for Friday's and Saturday's games at the Rogers Centre against the Los Angeles Dodgers yielded prices in the thousands of dollars."-Papuckoski

The face value tickets were at a high of around 345$, but scalpers were reselling them at over 5000$ immediately after they were sold out.Ticketmaster is being berated online for allowing this to happen, if one company has all the distribution of tickets, then things like this are always going to happen. Multiple companies being involved would allow for more competitive pricing, and encourage regulation of prices.
One fan even saw some tickets being sold at $12 000 behind the dugout and couldn't believe what they were seeing.
"Resale tickets should NOT be allowed! REAL fans want to experience the game and get f-ed with crazy resale. $11k a ticket for a typical $500 ticket or $3k a ticket on a regular $150 ticket.»-Ashley Mathieu via X

All Ticketmaster had to do was put a limit on resell value and none of this would have occurred, but the higher the ticket prices the better fees they receive so it is in their benefit.

Should Ticketmaster have put a price limit on resellers to avoid price gouging for the World Series tickets?
