Fans have been worrying about Guerrero ever since he signed his $500 million contract since he was struggling at the plate to start the season but has since turned this around in a major way.
Fans are starting to change their mind about Vladimir Guerrero Jr
While
Guerrero is nowhere near his career him in homeruns at 48 or 111 RBIs from the 2021 season, he has still been extremely impressive in the second half of the season.
"It's true that Guerrero isn't going to approach his career highs of 48 home runs and a 1.002 on-base-plus-slugging-percentage from his almost-MVP season of 2021, but it's also true that players rarely do such things in the season in which they sign massive contracts." -Wilner
So far in 2025, Guerrero has 18 homeruns, 62 RBIs, a .295 batting average, a .396 on base percentage and a very solid .875 OPS.
"Guerrero took a 23-game on-base streak, the longest active in the majors, into Friday's game. He also had a major-league-best 34-game on-base streak earlier in the season. After going 0-for-5 on July 1 and July 3 (with a 1-for-3 in between) he hit .360 with a 1.057 OPS and 15 extra-base hits in 28 games as the Jays powered to the top of the American League standings." -Wilner
In his last 15 games, Guerrero has 22 hits which includes 5 homeruns, 12 RBIs and a .355 batting average in 62 at bats which is the type of player fans were hoping for when he signed his historic contract.
Fans are finally starting to notice the changes and see why it was a necessity to sign Guerrero to such a lucrative deal to keep him in Toronto for the rest of his career.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is good at baseball and he is playing really good recently. Higher pull air% than 2021 and 2024 btw.
If you want to watch an attack angle guy, wyatt langford is literally playing right now. Turn the rangers on, haters
Clearly Ross Atkins and the Blue Jays made the right choice in signing Guerrero at the start of the season.
