The Toronto Blue Jays are spending as much as they need to, to win a World Series, with their sights set on Kyle Tucker and Bo Bichette, they should possibly be paying more attention to Cody Bellinger who is now a free agent after his past season with the New York Yankees.

Bellinger might fit the Blue Jays roster better, while still providing an excellent option at the plate, and for a fraction of the price.

Cody Bellinger might be the answer for the Blue Jays over Kyle Tucker.

Graeme Wallace from Jays Journal reported on the lack of attention the Blue Jays have been paying to Bellinger.
Tucker is expected to sign for close to $350M if not more than $400 million, while Bellinger will be under $200M for a shorter term. While Tucker is younger, it's only a difference of two years, and may not be worth the extra price.
"Regardless, Bellinger's appeal goes far beyond his contract status. Not only would the 30-year-old vastly improve the Blue Jays' roster, but he'd also subtract from the chief competition in their division, the Yankees. The lefty masher is coming off a terrific 2025 campaign, where he slashed .272/.334/.480 with 29 home runs, 98 RBI, and a 5.1 bWAR in 152 games."-Wallace

Taking Bellinger away from the Yankees, would be a pretty satisfying blow to their AL East rivals, but besides that Bellinger would also likely be less expensive than Bichette, who is expected to sign for over $200M. And he is way more efficient defensively than Bichette, and even Tucker.
"Bellinger's defensive talents are the final piece of the puzzle. He's consistently been an above-average defender at all three outfield positions and at first base, achieving a 3.2 dWAR over his nine-year career, compared to Tucker's 1.0 over eight years. He had nine defensive runs saved (91st percentile) and seven outs above average (93rd), while Tucker had zero DRS (53rd), and -2 OAA (26th)."-Wallace

The Blue Jays have some big decisions to make going into the holidays. They should really consider Bellinger, who is a great hitter in his own right, and better defensively than almost any outfielder, for less money. It could free up some space to continue adding firepower to their bullpen.
