Charles McAdoo gives John Schneider another name to watch after the Blue Jays pushed four prospects up to Triple-A Buffalo before Opening Day.
That is the real takeaway from this move. Toronto did not just shuffle minor league depth. It moved 4 players to the last stop before the majors at a time when Buffalo is already dealing with injuries.
The 4 promotions were McAdoo, Ryan McCarty, Grant Rogers and Devereaux Harrison. The openings were there because Ricky Tiedemann and Ryan Jennings opened on the 7-day injured list, while Jake Bloss landed on the 60-day injured list.
McAdoo is the headliner. He is ranked No. 26 in Toronto's system by MLB Pipeline, and he was the key return when the Blue Jays dealt Isiah Kiner-Falefa to Pittsburgh at the 2024 deadline.
He also looks like the cleanest fit for a fast rise. McAdoo spent all of 2025 at Double-A New Hampshire and put up a .247 average with a .732 OPS, 16 home runs and 34 stolen bases in 121 games.
That stat line matters because it points to more than one path onto Toronto's radar. McAdoo brings power, speed and defensive flexibility, which is usually the kind of profile that gets noticed when the bench picture starts shifting.
Buffalo now matters even more for Toronto's roster picture
Rogers may be the pitcher who forces the loudest conversation. The right-hander is ranked No. 30 in the system and is coming off a 2025 season in which he logged a 3.47 ERA with 115 strikeouts across 150.1 innings.
Harrison is worth tracking too, especially because Toronto keeps looking for arms who can cover more than one role. He posted a 3.68 ERA with 93 strikeouts in 88 innings over 28 appearances last year, including 14 starts.
McCarty is the oldest of the group at 26, and his promotion feels more like a pressure test than a projection play. He split 2025 between New Hampshire and Buffalo, posting a .225 average and .654 OPS in 112 games.
From a Blue Jays angle, this is not just a Bisons story. Toronto's upper-level depth already matters more because Buffalo opened the season short-handed, and the big club always ends up leaning on that layer sooner than expected. That is an inference based on Buffalo's injury list and the fact these 4 were moved up before the minor league opener.
McAdoo is still the name that jumps first because he offers the most complete upside. But Rogers has a real shot to make this interesting if his strike-throwing holds up against Triple-A hitters.
The Blue Jays did not make a headline move here. They made a useful one. And by sending 4 players to Buffalo at once, they made it clear where some of their next roster answers could come from.
This move does not affect the roster but could be great for the future.
