Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is easily the best hitter on the Toronto Blue Jays. This has led to speculation about where he would be on the batting order. As it turns out, the Jays have surprised fans with their decision.

Jays fans know by now that today is Opening Day in Major League Baseball. It is a great day to be a fan as the Jays take on the Tampa Bay Rays down in Florida. This is the start of a two-week road trip that will end on April 7th in New York. For now, however, all eyes are on today's game which could set the tone for the entire season. There has been a particular focus on where Vlad Jr. would be placed on the batting order. Most figured he would bat third or fourth. Well, today, it was revealed that he would be batting second.

"Our FIRST lineup of the season:

Guerrero Jr. and Bo Bichette have been swapped, as now, Bichette will be batting third. The first batter on the list is none other than George Springer. From fourth to ninth, the batting order is as follows: Justin Turner, Daulton Varsho, Alejandro Kirk, Kevin Kiermaier, Isiah Kiner-Falafa, and Cavan Biggio.

This will be an interesting campaign for Guerrero Jr. as he had a disappointing campaign in 2023. With just 26 home runs, he was well off the pace of his breakout season in 2021, where he notched 48. In 2022, Vlad Jr had himself 32 home runs, which showcases how he has been on a bit of a decline these past couple of years. Regardless, 2024 is a new year, and he is still a relatively young player at just 25 years old.

Today's Opening Day game will begin at 4:10 PM Eastern Standard Time and will be broadcasted on Sportsnet in Canada and Bally Sports Sun in Florida.
