Bo Bichette's true feeling towards the Philadelphia Phillies revealed

On Thursday, On Pattison tied Philadelphia's interest to a Bob Nightengale report that Bo Bichette has «expressed a desire» to play for the Phillies.

The same report points to Don Mattingly's new bench-coach role as the connective tissue, since he spent the last three seasons in Toronto around Bichette.

There is also real smoke beyond column inches, because Reuters noted the Phillies have a video meeting lined up with Bichette for Monday.

Bichette is 27, a two-time All-Star, and he just put up a monster year for Toronto. Reuters had him at a .311 average with 18 homers and 94 RBIs in 139 games, and FanGraphs backs the .311 with a .840 OPS.

That's the kind of line that plays anywhere, especially in a park where the ball can jump in the summer. On Pattison even framed him as a potential cleanup answer, which is a polite way of saying the Phillies need more protection behind Bryce Harper.

The positional fit is the tricky part, because Trea Turner is already an All-Star shortstop in Philadelphia. Reuters floated the idea of Bichette sliding to third base, and that's where Alec Bohm's name keeps popping up.

Bohm's 2026 salary is now locked at $10.2 million via arbitration, per Spotrac, and the same On Pattison report said a Bichette deal likely forces big choices, including the J.T. Realmuto free-agent situation.

Philadelphia just went 96-66 and won the NL East, so this is not a rebuild mood, it's a «one more thump» mood.

This is bad news for the Blue Jays as a deal with the Phillies is actually looking like a real possibility.
