Blue Jays Alek Manoah has rough start at Florida Complex League
Manoah took the mound for the first time since last season this afternoon in rookie ball at the Florida Complex League in which things did not go great for the pitcher.
The Blue Jays stated that this game was just to get Manoah back on the mound and they were not concerned with the results as they just wanted him back out there facing another team.
Alek Manoah made his first official rehab start today. Blue Jays said ahead of time they didn't care about results at all. As Manoah progresses results will of course start to matter more again but today was mainly about getting back on a mound against another team.
Things did not go great for Manoah as he gave up 1 hit, walked two batters, struck out one and gave up 3 earned runs with a total of 4 runs in 0.1 innings pitched.
Alek Manoah began a rehab assignment in the FCL this afternoon. Command was understandably rusty, but encouraging to see his velo come close to touching 95 mph. #BlueJays
0.1 IP, 1 H, 4 R (3 ER), 2 BB, 1 K & 22 pitches (10 strikes)
While the Blue Jays just wanted Manoah to get back out there, this is certainly not the start they were hoping for even if they are not concerning themselves with results.
It is only Manoah's first game in a very long time so hopefully he just needed to get some rust off.
