The Toronto Blue Jays may be facing another setback to their pitching depth in the high minors.

Right-handed starter Jake Bloss is currently dealing with an elbow issue. After being evaluated in Toronto, he will continue to work with the team's doctors and trainers.

Blue Jays prospect Jake Bloss placed on IL after suffering an elbow injury.

Sportsnet reports that Bloss was placed on the 7-day injured list earlier Tuesday, meaning he won't make his next start with Triple-A Buffalo. The 23-year-old left his outing on Saturday after just one out in the fourth inning, prompting the trainer's visit. That start marked his sixth appearance of the season for Buffalo.
Jake Bloss is dealing with an elbow issue. Got evaluated in Toronto recently and will continue working with team doctors and trainers. Won't make his next AAA start. Severity unclear as of now.
Ranked as the No. 6 prospect in the Blue Jays' system by MLB Pipeline, Jake Bloss has had a rough start to the 2025 season. He currently holds a 6.46 ERA, with 24 strikeouts and 13 walks across 23.2 innings pitched.
Bloss was acquired from the Houston Astros as part of the trade return for Yusei Kikuchi at last year's trade deadline. Given his early struggles this season, this injury setback could make it harder for him to regain momentum.
Blue Jays general manager Ross Atkins even went as far as to call Jake Bloss "an option right now" during his meeting with the media last Friday, highlighting the potential the young right-hander has within the Toronto's pitching plans despite his struggles this season.
"We'd just like to see more consistency out of him. His last two outings have been very effective. If he can repeat that a time or two, then there's a very real option for us." -Atkins

Since Atkins' meeting, the Blue Jays have made moves to bolster their pitching depth by finalizing deals with right-handers José Urena and Spencer Turnbull.
