Jose Ramirez is dealing with a sore right ankle after stumbling over first base during Friday's loss in Toronto, but Guardians manager Stephen Vogt said the six-time All-Star third baseman avoided serious injury.

Guardian's star José Ramirez goes down in Friday's game against the Blue Jays.

TSN.ca reports that Ramirez exited in the third inning after taking a throw from pitcher Chris Bassitt off his body and stumbling awkwardly over first base while beating out an infield single.
"With Steven Kwan at first base and two out, Ramirez hit a slow roller towards the mound. Right-hander Bassitt's throw to first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. hit Ramirez on the upper back, and he stumbled over the base before hitting his left knee on the dirt." -TSN.ca

Daniel Schneeman entered as a pinch-runner for Ramirez and took over at second base, while Gabriel Arias shifted from second to third.
«It's never fun to take anyone out of a game, let alone José, but it was the right thing to do. The reports are good. Just being cautious, long season. He said he could have kept going but we can't take that chance.» -Vogt

Ramirez did not appear to be favoring his ankle as he exited the clubhouse.
Ramirez went 2-for-2 before exiting, raising his batting average to .274 with five home runs and 15 RBIs through 31 games.
In Thursday's 4-3 win over Minnesota, he became the first primary third baseman in MLB history to reach both 250 home runs and 250 stolen bases.
The Guardian's are back in action on Saturday against the Blue Jays.
