Dodgers reliever Alex Vesia sent a heartfelt message to the Blue Jays and their fans, thanking them for their support during a difficult personal time.

Sometimes, the game we love takes a backseat to real life, and that's exactly what happened during the 2025 World Series.
Alex Vesia (Drafted 17th round, 2018 by Miami) was a key part of the Dodgers' bullpen all season but missed the Fall Classic due to a "deeply personal family matter."
While his teammates were celebrating their championship over our Blue Jays, Vesia was dealing with a situation far more important than baseball.
In a touch of pure class, the 29-year-old lefty took time to acknowledge the outpouring of support he received, not just from L.A., but from Toronto as well.
"The respect and love... it’s a huge, huge tribute," Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said, highlighting the bond between players across the league.
Vesia posted a 3.02 ERA with 80 strikeouts in 2025, proving he is one of the elite left-handed relievers in the game.
He was a warrior on the mound, but his vulnerability off the field has earned him a new level of respect from fans everywhere.

Respect goes beyond the diamond

It would have been easy for Blue Jays fans to be bitter about losing the Series to the Dodgers.
Instead, the compassion shown toward Vesia reminds us that we are all part of the same baseball family.
Vesia's connection to the game is deep—he went from a Division II pitcher at Cal State East Bay to a World Series champion.
His journey is one of resilience, and now he is showing that same strength in his personal life.
The Dodgers picked up his option for 2026, so we will see him back on the mound at Rogers Centre soon enough.
When he does step on that rubber, don't be surprised if he gets a warm reception from the Toronto crowd.
We can be fierce rivals between the lines, but we are all human beings first.
Class acts like this are why we love this sport—it brings people together even in the toughest of times.
